Did you know…
not all Pilates studios are the same?

Can’t tell the difference between one Pilates studio & the next? With so many choices of studios and classes, it can be frustrating trying to choose the right one for you. Don’t be afraid to ask the important questions, a reputable studio will be happy to help.

Not all Pilates exercises are good for every body

classes-03Inadequate instructor training can result in clients doing exercises that are not suitable for their body, or doing them incorrectly, all of which can lead to injury. For this reason you should be wary of large group classes, where you do not receive individual instruction, and also why you should find a teacher with a formal qualification (Diploma) and a registered studio.

When taught by a qualified instructor, Pilates is a form of exercise that has rapid results and is appropriate for any person, regardless of body shape, age, fitness level or existing injury. When supervised by a qualified instructor, Pilates is a safe form of exercise that has rapid results and is appropriate for any person, regardless of body shape, age, fitness level or existing injury.

There is no substitute for a highly qualified Pilates Instructor using best practice & specifically designed Pilates equipment.

Important questions to ask a Pilates studio:

Are your Pilates instructors professionally qualified?

Comprehensive training includes theoretical lectures, written and practical examination, and a minimum of 300 hours instructor experience (observation, assistant teaching and mentoring).

How long have your instructor’s been teaching Pilates?

Our studios only employ highly qualified professionals and the most talented individuals who have graduated from our government recognised Diploma and Advanced Diploma programs.

What’s the ratio of clients to instructors?

There should be a maximum of four clients to each instructor in a group class. This is the maximum for classes in our Pilates studios, however it is often less than four clients to each instructor and we start everyone with at least one private session (initial consultation) to assess their needs and level.

Is my instruction personalised?

Your Pilates classes should target areas that are specific to your individual needs. On initial consultation, our expert instructors create a program to suit your body, your needs, and your goals. Not someone else’s.

Is the Pilates studio fully equipped?

Minimal apparatus should include a Pilates Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Spine Corrector, Ladder Barrel and Ped-O-Pull. Our state-of-the-art equipment is of the highest standard (Balanced Body apparatus), is meticulously maintained and is plentiful in all our Pilates studios – in Pymble, Broadway, Hunters Hill and Melbourne. We also have extensive small and large apparatus.
